Challenge
A fictional aquatics center manager discovered in an employee survey that many of her lifeguards don't feel confident in their CPR skills. She wants the lifeguards to practice CPR skills regularly to build competency.
Solution
This course would be the first monthly release of a year-long series of CPR refresher scenarios. Each scenario allows the learner to make real-time decisions for a potential situation they could encounter on the job. They are able to take ownership of their learning and practice their CPR skills in a space where failing is safe. The learner receives meaningful feedback for each decision made and is given the chance to retry after an incorrect choice.
Results
The intended outcome of this series of courses would be to strengthen lifeguards' confidence in their CPR skills through continual practice and feedback. Success would be measured by periodically surveying the lifeguards about their CPR confidence levels, administering real-life practice scenarios at the aquatics center and analyzing each lifeguards' performance, and analyzing incident reports involving CPR for outcome improvements.
